Mini Oats Bhakri Pizza

PCOS is a medical condition which requires you to be particular about what to eat and what to avoid. That’s why we’re introducing these yummy little treats called mini oats bhakri pizzas.  Since bhakri is be made from oats and wheat flour, you need to prepare the pizza just before serving to avoid the bhakri base from getting soggy.

Nutritional Values

Despite typically being a fruit, the tomato is generally categorized as a vegetable. Tomatoes are a key dietary source of an antioxidant called lycopene that has been associated to several health benefits including reduced heart disease and cancer risks. Not forgetting, they are also the rich source of vitamin C, K potassium, and folate.

Oats are considered among the healthiest grains found on the planet earth. And why not? It comprises of all the nutrients of a wholesome meal. They’re gluten-free,  are an incredible source of vital vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, carbs, and fibre. They also have more fat and protein content than any other grain. Oats have numerous health benefits like maintaining lower blood sugar levels, weight loss, and reduced heart disease risk.

Ingredients

For the Pizza Sauce

  • Small tomato- 1

  • Olive oil- 1 teaspoon

  • Finely chopped garlic- 2 cloves

  • Small finely chopped onions- ½

  • Dried oregano- ¼  teaspoon

  • Dry red chili flakes- ¼  teaspoon

  • Chilli powder- 1 tsp

  • Salt to taste

For the Bhakri

  • Whole wheat flour- 15 gram

  • Quick cooking rolled oats flour- 15 grams

  • Oil-  ¼ teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

For the Vegetable Topping

  • Finely chopped red, yellow and green capsicum – ¼  cup

  • Blanched small broccoli florets- 3-4 cup

  • Dried oregano- ¼  teaspoon

  • Dry red chilli flakes- ¼  teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

Method

For the pizza sauce

  • Put tomatoes into the boiling water until its skin begins to peel.

  • Now, drain the water out and let the tomatoes cool down slightly, peel them, remove the seeds and blend the tomatoes in a mixer to get a smooth pulp. Keep it aside.

  • Heat the olive oil on medium flame in a broad, flat and non-stick pan. Add the garlic and sauté it for a few seconds.

  • Next, add onions and sauté it as well on a medium flame for 1-2 minutes.

  • Add the tomato pulp, chili flakes, oregano, chili powder, tomato ketchup, and salt. Mix it all well and cook for 2 to 3 minutes on a medium flame. Stir occasionally. Keep it aside.

For the bhakri

  • Combine all the ingredients to prepare the bhakris in a bowl and knead into stiff dough.

  • Divide dough into equal parts.

  • Roll each part of the dough into small balls and then flatten then equally.

  • Heat up a non-stick tava and cook the bhakris on a low flame till they turn crisp and brown from both the sides. Keep it aside.

How to proceed

  • Divide vegetable topping into the parts like the bhakris. Keep aside.

  • Just before serving, spread pizza sauce and toppings evenly on it.

  • Bake the bhakris in a pre-heated oven at 200ºc for next 15 minutes.

  • Serve, hot and immediately.
