Kashmiri Mutton Koftas

Nutritional Values

Lamb in moderation, is an excellent source of protein including key nutrients such as zinc, iron, selenium and vitamin B12. For the koftas

  • Boneless lamb leg (double minced)- 40 gm

  • Kashmiri Mirch- 1 Tsp

  • Heeng (soaked in water)- ¼ tsp

  • Garam masala- 1 tsp

  • Saunf powder- ½ tsp

  • Saunth powder- ½ tsp

  • Dhaniya powder- 1tsp

  • Yoghurt- 10 gm

  • Mustard oil (pre-smoked) – 5ml

  • To taste Salt

For the tadka

  • Mustard oil- ½ tsp

  • Heeng (soaked in water)- ¼ tsp

  • Small Elaichi- 2-3

  • Large Elaichi- 1

  • Gram Jeera- 1tsp

  • Star anise- 1

  • Red chilli powder- 1tsp

  • Water- 100 ml

Calories: 125-130.6 kcal


  • Infuse all the ingredients for koftas in lamb mince, knead it all well and set it aside for 45 minutes.

  • Next, heat mustard oil in a pan, until it smokes and then let it cool down slightly.

  • Add all the spices in it and sauté for a minute and add water to it. Let it cook on a low flame by the next step.

  • Now, shape koftas with your hands in a cylindrical shape and then slide them in tadka.

  • Cook koftas by rotating the pan to turn them.

  • Turn off the flame, cover it and set aside it for 5 minutes.

  • You can serve these hot koftas with steamed rice.
