Juicing – Yay or Nay ?
By Smiley Gumber
Running for work or a meeting or having a tough time handling children makes us take easy routes on our health and lifestyle. Because, we don’t have time to cut our fruits or even eat, gets us inclined towards these popular fruit juices selling like hot cakes in market! With our fast pacing jobs and busy schedules, grabbing that packaged juice is an easy option especially in the scorching heat and when you are unsure of the juice vendors outside for the hygienic conditions. From claiming them to be 100% natural to fresh and healthy! Are they actually nutritious for you and your family?
Opt for Vegetable juices over fruit juices
The fruit juices that you find at the supermarket may not be what you think it is. After being squeezed from the fruit, the juice is usually stored in massive oxygen-depleted holding tanks for up to a year before it is packaged. The major problem with this method is that it tends to remove most of the flavor, so the manufacturers need to add so-called “flavour ones” to the juice, to bring back the flavor that was lost during processing. So even if you’re buying the highest or the most famous branded quality juices at the supermarket, they are still far from their original state. Some of them are actually of the lowest quality ones. Therefore if you still consider to have juice. Make sure you opt for the vegetable juices. While there seem to be lot of factors on which if we start to compare the vegetable juices are better in comparison. Starting on with fibre content. It has been seen fruits have low fibre content as compared to vegetables. This is because fruit juices lack fibre of the whole fruit as it is lost while juicing. That’s it is suggested to opt for vegetable juices rather than fruit ones because this vegetable juice will suffice your system with fibre and will also keep your digestive system healthy. Whereas talking about the sugar content, fruits have high amount of natural sugar. These fruit juices only end up spiking your blood sugar instantly, making you hungry and overeat later in the day. So why are you still looking for a mix fruit juice rather than having a wholesome fruit! Ever thought, you can actually end up drinking 5 oranges but can eat only 1 at a time. Therefore, it’s always advised to consume fruit juices in moderation or to avoid in case of diabetes or those having high sugar levels unlike most of vegetable juices which have low sugar content can be consumed.
So ask yourself again – Are juices actually healthy?
Over to you-
There is no doubt that one should avoid the juices and try to eat as much as fruits/ vegetables we can. Remember to have vegetable juices any day over fruit juices for more health benefits and nutrition in the long run.
