Chaat Katori

Chaat katori is also popularly known as tokri chaat. This chaat is famous in all North Indian regions and especially Lucknow because of its flavors and texture which burst in the mouth. In this recipe we switched with deep frying method by the air fryer method which uses very less oil and the result is equally crisp and tasty.

Nutritional Benefits

Katori in chaat katori is prepared from Whole wheat flour which is particularly high in B vitamins, including niacin, thiamin and folate. It also contains a good amount of minerals, such as zinc, iron, magnesium, and manganese. Healthy chickpeas and sprouts are used in the filling which may offer a variety of health benefits, such as improving digestion, aiding weight management and reducing the risk of several diseases.


  • 20g Whole wheat flour
  • 10g Semolina
  • 1 teaspoon oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 50ml milk
  • 1 small Boiled potato (20g)
  • 10g Chopped tomatoes
  • 10g Safedchole (Boiled Chickpeas)
  • 10g Chopped Onions
  • 10g Sprouts
  • 20g Beaten curd/yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon Tamarind Chutney
  • 1 teaspoon Green Coriander Chutney
  • 1/4 teaspoon Red chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Chaat Masala
  • 1/4 teaspoon Sev (to be sprinkled on top of chaat)

  • Prepare the dough of katoris by using whole wheat flour, semolina, oil, baking soda, and milk.
  • Take a katori(steel bowl) and turn it upside down and grease it with oil. Roll the dough into a circle, big enough to cover the outer side of katori (steel bowl).
  • Cover 3-4 other katoris (steel bowl) with the rolled dough as well and set the Air Fryer at 15 minutes Timer at 190*C.
  • Meanwhile fork the rolled discs and trim off any extra dough. When the Air fryer shows 10 minutes mark, place katoris(steel bowl) upside down, inside the bin of air fryer and AIR FRY for 8-10 minutes till golden and crisp.
  • Remove katorifrom steel bowls after resting for 1 minute. Your Air fried Katoris are ready to prepare chaat.
  • Place the prepared katorison a clean plate and pour green chutney, tamarind chutney, at the base of it.
  • Add 1 tablespoon of safedchole or boiled chickpeas and sprouts over it and sprinkle a pinch of salt.
  • Also add chopped potatoes, tomatoes, and onion over it. Add 1 teaspoon of curd, and chat masala over it as well.
  • Sprinkle some red chili powder over it and garnish with sev namkeen, cilantro and serve.
